1. Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre
When people visit Cowra, we immediately suggest the Japanese Garden and Cultural Centre, located along Ken Nakajima Pl. With manicured gardens, two beautiful lakes and a host of local birdlife, this top pick for family-friendly Cowra attractions should definitely be on your list.
2. Iandra Castle
Yes, Cowra has a castle! The Iandra Castle was built between 1878-1911 and is a unique example of a feudal-like estate. While only open on certain times of the year, it’s a picture-perfect home that you can take off as a visual souvenir.
3. Indigenous Art Murals
Visiting these wonderful and ingenious works of art on the Cowra Bridge Pylons is definitely a must-do in Cowra. These murals were painted by Aboriginal artist Kym Freeman and tell the story of the Wirajuri Peoples who first settled in Cowra. Admission is free and available for viewing every day.
4. Cowra Heritage Walk
We are proud of our legacy in culture and thus we have the Cowra Heritage Walk. Go through historical commercial buildings, churches and the courthouse, savour the walks especially during this time and get to know our town at a more intimate level. It’s perfect for families who enjoy walking. You may get a copy of the brochure at the visitor’s centre or ask us at Cowra Motor Inn for more information.
There are more sights and sounds of Cowra that we would like to offer but if it’s your first time to our town, we highly recommend you to add those four attractions in your itinerary.
